Effects of Cold Expansion on Residual Stress of 7050 Aluminium Alloy Frame Forging

Regulation of residual stress in a component is the key to improving its service performance. A cold expansion method was proposed for reducing 7050 aluminium alloy curved frame forging after quenching. The effect on and equivalent plastic strain distribution investigated. results showed that maximum at center thickness reduced from 153 MPa 94 expansion, while it decreased 283 120 surface with highest reduction rate 86.2%. uniformity final forming region improved. gradually decreases each side along diameter expanded hole expansion. matched strain. measured by x-rays diffraction (XRD) agreement simulation results, reliability numerical model verified. can effectively reduce quenched forging.
